Minutes for Meeeting October 25, 2024

Board Members Present: Steven Swain, Rika Gopinath, Susan Hopp, Myrto Ashe, Steven Swain, Bob Mauceli, Kate Wing 
Absent: Scott Sherman, Allison Hermance 

1.    CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 9:08 a.m. by Vice Chair Hopp. Commissioner introductions. 

2.    PUBLIC COMMENT
No members of the public came forward. 

3. APPROVE MINUTES FOR MEETING HELD ON 7/26/24

4. IPM COORDINATOR’S 2024 3rd QUARTER REPORTS
(INFORMATION ITEM)
Parks staff gave a presentation for the IPM Coordinator 2024 3rd Quarter Report.
    There were no product exemptions in Q3.
    There were no exemptions or violations in Q3.
    There were no applications made to landscape sites in Q3.
    There were structural applications.

Commissioner Comments:  
Comm Hopp wants to know whether organic certified compost is actually pesticide free.  

Comm Swain wonders how specific products are being added to the EPA Bulletin tool.   

Comm Gopinath states that EPA will start rolling out pesticide labels in Spanish. 

5. Enrichment Topic: IPM Seasonal Checklist

7. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
Comm Hermance submitted comment via email:  “WildCare is now operating out of our Transition location off North San Pedro Road. It will be there for two years while we build our new facility at our Albert Park Lane site. We're admitting wildlife patients at "WildCare Transition", and, starting November 5th, we'll be open part of the week for people to visit our Wildlife Ambassador animals. We're open for wildlife patient intake 9am - 5pm, seven days a week, and we'll post the Wildlife Ambassador hours on our website at discoverwildcare.org [External]

Comm Ashe would like to see a more holistic approach in regards to pest management rather than seeing chemistry as a cure for a disease.

Mauceli: Greater Novato shaded fuel break: lots of oak wood lying around.

Swain: Reading London labor and the London poor – story of tracking the cholera epidemic under control.
